September 2011 will mark the beginning of the 10th year for the New Horizons Band of Colorado Springs. The group has maintained amazing consistency and growth in the areas of 6 functioning bands, 3 subsidiary jazz trios, and numerous working chamber groups.

We welcome adult beginners and those who desire to resume their interest in instrumental music now that they are building or have built careers. (The age requirement for all but one of the bands is 40+.)

Behind every great idea, movement, or event, there usually stands one person who is the inspiration, the guiding light, and the driving force for making it happen. Such is the case with the New Horizons movement, founded by Roy Ernst, Ph.D. His leadership and untiring work are directly responsible for the many New Horizons bands, orchestras, and other musical ensembles now in existence around the country.
