BEGINNING BAND .. We are hoping we can encourage enough folks to begin playing an instrument with us in the Fall. If we have too few to constitute a quorum (Ed's decision), we'll combine these folks with our Night Beginners. Incidentally, it has been called to our attention that there is an error on the Registration Form. A semester in Beginning Band should be 24 hours - $75. So sorry about this. We always endeavor to get all that information accurate--but that error eluded both of us!

CONCERT BAND .. This exciting group could use a few players in addition to the 50 or so we usually attract: We have need for an Oboe, a Bassoon, Percussionist, etc. Also, we could use a few more of everything, really! How does that saying go, "There is safety in numbers!"

SYMPHONIC BAND .. We really got a workout this Summer--but I think most of you really enjoyed the change of pace. Monetarily, we could not have expected more. Between the donations from the food concessions at the Concert Series, along with the donations from the Gleneagle Golf Club folks--we should go far in at least one of our 'Wish List Items' we hope to acquire. Without you this would not have been possible. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! We need your assistance in our search for another Bassoon player, a couple of Percussionists, and another Bari Sax. If you know any of these people (!) and can bring them to our Informational Coffees, that would be just perfect! Of course, we always want another good player (no matter what the instrument), but sometimes a section gets a little gaunt. I've listed those areas for you to keep in mind and we look forward to September 1st and 2nd to see what your explorations yield!!

NIGHT BEGINNING BAND .. We anticipate great things out of Rob Rodine who has been contracted as Ed's Ed's Assistant. He has worked with beginners for 30 years and comes to us with a great reputation. Be sure to share this info with any budding musicians you come in contact with. This semester, Rob will be teaching beginners from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in order to allow a 2-hour class for the N-I people. We're hoping this will work for both levels.

NIGHT INTERMEDIATE BAND .. This is an exciting semester as we try our first time at a 2-hour class. Rob suggested he could see this as a big advantage to the group and we concur. Of course, the only way it could happen was to schedule the Beginners at 6:00. We're hoping the time we've created for this N-I level (7:15-9:15 p.m.) is satisfactory. If any of you returning members have a problem with this, please express it to either Rob or Ed so we know what the consensus is. Thx! 8888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888
KICKS JAZZ BAND .. In just a few days we'll be back at it since we'll be playing for the HOORAY FOR COLORADO Celebration. That is scheduled for Saturday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m., Pioneer's Museum in downtown Colorado Springs. Rehearsal will be the Friday night before... Then on Sunday afternoon, September 19th, 2:00 p.m., the Gleneagle Golf Club Family Picnic will take place. This ought to be quite the time for all of us since we've already established a rapport with many of these people. This should be a good one and will be another addition to Friends coffers!
